John Schaffhouser – President/Chief Executive Officer
John gained the base of his electrical knowledge and his leadership skills while serving in the United States Marine Corps as a communications, navigations, and weapons systems technician on AV8B’s. He was meritoriously promoted twice and honorably discharged in 1996 after seven years of active duty service, including participation in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. While working as a very successful Field Superintendent, Mr. Schaffhouser attained the highly-respected Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. John’s experiences cover many venues such as food production and automotive manufacturing which includes both Tier 1 and Tier 2 environments. Additionally, his project experience includes power generation, commercial, and many others. John has over 20 years of electrical contracting experience. Using his motivational and leadership skills sets, John has created a corporate environment wherein customers are highly valued. With this focus on customer satisfaction, the business has been successful, and Schaffhouser Electric Company, LLC has developed strong working relationships with top brand customers including many Fortune 500 companies. In these relationships, John leads the senior management team in establishing goals to ensure projects are accomplished on schedule and within budget.
Barry Rhoads – Chief Strategy Officer
Barry has been involved in the engineering and installation of electrical systems across the lower 48, Europe, Japan, Canada, Central America and Puerto Rico. Additionally, having spent 16 years working at large Federal Facilities has provided significant insight into large project teaming and management. Projects at these Federal Installations required a significant amount of involvement in the installation and maintenance of a myriad of complex systems.
Mr. Rhoads started a consulting engineering firm in 1995 and functioned as the President and CEO growing the firm to several million dollars in sales. Most notably a large data center in France required implementing strategies across geographical, language and cultural barriers.
In addition to technical acumen, Barry’s role with Schaffhouser Electric is primarily working with John Schaffhouser, President and CEO to develop long-range business strategies, leading projects and executing a growth agenda. Additional business expansion into Federal Market Sectors and movement into other regions are a strategic part of this growth agenda. Schaffhouser Electric is committed to the understanding of digital/social media/analytics and empirical learning, i.e., sensing trends, learning best and worst practices from others, etc., and implementing strategies to ensure diversification and growth.

Michelle Schaffhouser – Chief Administrative Officer
Starting her career, Mrs. Schaffhouser spent several years in a Pharmacy dealing with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, insurance companies and the myriad of other activities associated with a high volume pharmacy. This aggressive start coupled with securing her RN license gives her a level of management skills rarely seen in this business. From managing time, people, budgets and daily administrative operations, Mrs. Schaffhousers skills are critical to this rapidly expanding business. Michelle is an integral part of the top executive team reporting directly to the CEO. She knows how to keep things in order and adds a strategic vision to everyday activities. Michelle is involved in and assists with strategic planning, implementing policies, organizing and coordinating inter- and intradepartmental operations, resource allocation and budgeting. Finally, her oversight for AP, AR company paperwork and assisting the CEO and CSO with the myriad of details in the day to day operations makes her an invaluable part of Schaffhouser Electric. Michelle’s goal is to ensure the smooth running of the business according to established policies and vision.
Jenny Harshbarger – HR Manager/Recruiter
Jenny works with the team to strengthen employee relations, create effective methods in organizing, developing and maintaining company policies and procedures and recruits qualified talent to join our team. Before onboarding with Schaffhouser Electric Company in March of 2017, Jenny spent several years in the electrical staffing and recruiting industry where she focused on building relationships with clients and managing employees. She excelled in providing both the client and the employee a winning experience. Jenny believes that communication, organization and a positive attitude are all key factors for success in her role.
J.R. Wilson – Operations Manager
J.R. started his career in the Army in 1994. He later attended Jackson State Community College for an Associates in Business Management and then DeVry University for Electronic Engineering. While working in engineering for IBP and Tyson Foods, he attended Garden State Community College for Ammonia Operator 1 and Process Safety Management. He finished his manufacturing engineering career with Tennessee Bun Company as a Director of Engineering. Since being at Schaffhouser Electric, J.R. has attended Perdue University ABC Project Management Institute. He currently works with our technical team to provide our customers with technological and engineering support. Additionally, Mr. Wilson oversees the design, development, implementation and installation of UL Listed control panels for a variety of clientele in the manufacturing community. These UL control systems are unique and certainly speaks to J. R.’s ability to quickly communicate and grasp the requirements for an applicable control scenario for any given situation.
Tim Shepherd – Project Manager/Safety Coordinator
After six years in the U.S. Marine Corps, Tim attended Martin Community College in North Carolina and as a full-time student graduated their electrical courses in a one-year timeframe. Starting as an Electrician’s helper, Mr. Shepherd worked his way up over the years, mastered most aspects of an electrical career including supervising and estimating commercial and industrial projects. For eleven years Tim built Marriott and Hilton hotels from the east coast to the mid-west of the United States. In Tennessee, he has supervised numerous electrical projects such as the Gallatin hospital new wing addition, a substantial nursing home in Brentwood, Mt. Juliet high school and numerous dental offices throughout middle Tennessee. Adding to his depth of expertise, Tim has successfully managed electrical projects in the food and auto industry, Great lakes cheese plant, Rich’s products, Heritage Farms, Smuckers. Nissan, Kasai and Toyota in Kentucky. Tim’s electrical career has spanned more than thirty-four years including stints as an assistant estimator, giving him the opportunity to work for contractors in TN, NC and KY. His work ethic and honesty have earned Tim respect from those who work for and with him and have garnered him respected friendships that have lasted the length of his career. Tim holds a Master Electrician’s License with Kentucky.
Jim Schaffhouser – Facilities Project Manager/Estimator
Jim started his electrical career in 1995 with Davis Electric at a Willamette Paper Mill, coupling that with extensive experience gained at Tyson Foods Mr. Schaffhouser is well suited to lead large projects within the heavy industry sector. Jim’s experiences in working with installation crews, plant managers, and plant engineers have provided him valuable insight into the criticality of setting project milestones and deadlines employing clear communications and more importantly monitoring these goals and seeing efforts come to fruition. In addition to this environment, Jim has had substantial exposure to large scale commercial projects including Time Warner Offices in Nashville, Tennessee. Jim also holds a Master Electricians License in Kentucky.
Langton Temple – Estimator
Mr. Temple started in the electrical field at the early age of 19. Since that time he worked in the installation segment of the industry with a large electrical contractor starting as an Electrician’s Helper. During that time Langton attended ABC School. Following this Langton spent eight years at Innophos one of the worlds’ leading producers of specialty phosphates for a variety of industrial markets. Furthering his career Mr. Temple spent time with an organization responsible for moving manufacturing lines and large equipment from one plant location to another. The equipment as re-energized, shakedown test performed and placed into operation often with short windows of opportunities. Before joining Schaffhouser Electric, Langton spent his time in the automotive industry working on production lines involving the Leaf and its associated battery manufacturing plant. Bringing this myriad of project experiences to bear Langton uses this to enhance the quality and accuracy to the estimating team at Schaffhouser Electric.
